Blessings in Disguise

What does being blessed mean? Jer. 17:7; Acts 20:35
Jesus teaching about blessing is contrary to our culture.
      a. You are blessed when you are poor.  Luke 6:20
      b. The blessing of hunger. Luke 6:21
      c. The blessing of weeping. Luke 6:21; Ps. 84:5-7
      d. The blessing of persecution. Luke 6:22-23
Count it all joy.  James 1:2-4
What we go through here on earth is small compared to what awaits us.  Rom.  8:18

    Will I follow the Lord completely? Luke 9:57-62  Am I making excuses?
    But what if my excuse is genuine?  Matthew 7:21-23
    What excuse are we currently giving the Lord?  Proverbs 16:18

    Why do we encounter hardships? vs. 7
    Do we pray about it?  How should I pray about the thorn?  vs. 8
    What if God has a better plan?  vs. 9
    Will my actions prove that I believe what he has spoken?  vs. 9-10
    Will I allow God to guide me through this trial?
    When I am weak then I'm strong.  vs. 10

    2. Who can stand before the Lord?  Psalm 24:3-4
    3. Don't forget to purify your heart- Matthew 23:25-28
    4. The work of our hands is a sign of the condition of our heart-Matthew 27:1-24
    5. Washing our hands will not change our heart, but purifying our heart will also produce clean hands.
